Archie A. Haxton, age 74, a retired farmer of the Veedersburg community, died Tuesday night, Nov. 22, at his home on Veedersburg Rt. 3. He had been in failing health four years and was seriously ill for a week. Mr. Haxton was born near Waveland Sept. 13, 1892, the son of George and Sarah Twiddy Haxton. He was married to the former Iva M. Dove, who survives. He had lived in Veedersburg for 20 years, and he was a member of the Hillsboro Masonic Lodge. Surviving, in addition to the wife, are: one daughter, Mrs. Juanita Clem of Alliance, Ohio; two sons, Avery Haxton of Fowler and Donald of Danville, Ill.; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Mrs. Rose Beedle and Mrs. Dora Kessley, both of Mellott. Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at the Fishero Funeral Home in Veedersburg. The Rev. Alfred Dobbs officiated and burial was in Green Lawn Cemetery at Wingate.  --typed by Walt W

Archie A. Haxton, 74, died at 4 p.m. Tuesday at his home on Rt 3 after an illness of four years. He had been a resident of the Veedersburg area since 1946. He was born near Waveland Sept 13, 1892, the son of George and Sarah Twiddy Haxton. He was married to Iva M. Dove. Mr. Haxton had been a member of the Masonic Lodge at Hillsboro. Surviving are the widow, a daughter, Mrs. Juanita Clem of Alliance, Ohio; two sons, Avery of Fowler and Donald of Danville, Ill; two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Beedle and Mrs. Dora Kessler, Wingate ; five grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Friday at Fishero Funeral Home in Veedersburg with Rev. Alfred Dobbs officiating. Burial in Greenlawn Cemetery, Wingate. – kbz
